LEED Platinum Award Ceremony

Panama Commons in Panama City, earned LEED Platinum certification by the US Green Building Council and was honored in an award ceremony at the Capital Building. Panama Commons was the first major new affordable housing community for families in the Southeast to earn the certification.

Completed in 2011, Panama Commons incorporated environmentally friendly construction methods, features, and community assets like drought-tolerant landscaping, permanent erosion controls, mechanical systems using non-ozone-depleting refrigerants, high-efficiency plumbing fixtures and appliances, waste recycling, and a location that is close to public transportation.
