Fairfield Manor, an affordable housing community for seniors, is hosting a grand opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting to showcase it’s 92 units and a host of amenities. Construction features of the property were designed to achieve LEED Platinum certification, with state of the art environmentally-friendly features. Such sustainable building practices bring a host of benefits to residents including lower utility bills, native landscaping, and natural light. It also brings economic benefits to Florida as many materials must be locally sourced—75 percent of them within a 75 mile radius of the property.Most notable is the Solar Photo Voltaic system that will provide 100 percent of the energy to all common areas of the building. It will run the elevators, light the corridors, and run computers in the offices as well as appliances in the common kitchen area. The units will benefit from state of the art heating and cooling units, high-efficiency water heaters, water-saving showers and plumbing fixtures. They also contain ENERGY STAR appliances, light fixtures, and ceiling fans.Tours of the property and a buffet lunch will follow the grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting.
